The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. This role is essential in promoting patient recovery and enhancing their quality of life across various settings, including home health, outpatient clinics, and inpatient facilities. Responsibilities Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises and activities designed to improve functional abilities. Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and progress. Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with medical standards. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to effectively communicate with team members and understand treatment protocols. Support pediatric, outpatient, and inpatient therapy sessions as needed. Maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to all safety protocols. Qualifications Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential for effective communication and understanding of treatment plans. Experience in home health or outpatient settings is preferred but not required. Familiarity with pediatrics is a plus for those working with younger populations.
