Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Occupational Therapist or COTA to join our team on a contract basis. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to diverse patient populations across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, and school environments. Your expertise will help individuals of all ages improve their functional independence, enhance their quality of life, and achieve their personal goals. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to apply evidence-based practices and collaborate with interprofessional teams to deliver exceptional patient care. Duties Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's goals, medical condition, and functional abilities. Implement targeted occupational therapy programs focusing on assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), motor skills, sensory processing, and adaptive techniques. Assist patients with discharge planning by coordinating care transitions and providing home exercise programs or recommendations for ongoing therapy. Manage medical documentation accurately using electronic health records (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with clinical documentation standards. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Support clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders by applying specialized intervention strategies in pediatric or school settings. Provide case management services including progress tracking, goal adjustments, and family or caregiver education. Participate in clinical team meetings to discuss patient progress and refine treatment approaches based on current evidence-based practices. Engage in early intervention programs for infants and young children or occupational health initiatives for workplace safety and injury prevention. Skills Proven experience assisting with ADLs and developing effective treatment plans for diverse populations. Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to occupational therapy assessments and interventions. Experience working with individuals with disabilities across settings such as schools, clinics, inpatient units, skilled nursing facilities, or outpatient centers. Familiarity with medical terminology and post-acute care processes including discharge planning and case management. Skilled in implementing occupational therapy programs tailored for pediatrics, geriatrics, neurodevelopmental disorders, or physical rehabilitation needs. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management and clinical documentation standards. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care delivery. Knowledge of evidence-based practices supporting autism spectrum disorders support and pediatric occupational therapy strategies. Experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs within school environments is highly desirable.
