Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and make a meaningful difference in patients' lives by supporting their journey toward independence and improved well-being. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement personalized treatment plans across diverse settings, including inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. Your expertise will help clients of all ages—pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities—achieve their goals through targeted therapy interventions. Responsibilities Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote patient independence and comfort. Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively and safely. Support pediatric occupational therapy programs addressing childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders through specialized interventions. Help patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and disabilities improve functional skills using manual handling techniques and therapeutic activities. Coordinate patient transport within facilities or to external appointments, ensuring safety and efficiency during movement. Maintain accurate care documentation, progress notes, and treatment records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate seamlessly with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and caregivers—to optimize patient outcomes. Utilize your knowledge of physiology and anatomy to adapt therapy techniques for individual needs across diverse clinical settings such as acute care, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health. Experience Previous experience working in inpatient or outpatient environments is highly valued, particularly within skilled nursing facilities or clinics specializing in occupational therapy. Demonstrated expertise in pediatric occupational therapy, including working with children experiencing developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder. Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs and implementing care plans for clients with neurodevelopmental or physical disabilities. Familiarity with medical imaging terminology and medical terminology related to occupational health enhances your ability to communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in documentation practices related to care plans, treatment progress, and client communication ensures compliance with healthcare standards. Experience working with geriatric populations or in home health settings is a plus, highlighting your versatility across age groups and environments. Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy supports effective treatment plan implementation tailored to individual client needs.
