We care for patients of all ages and backgrounds who may require daily visits in their homes in the following areas: Dorchester, W. Roxbury, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Dedham, Norwood, Brighton, Brookline, Quincy, Mattapan, Newton, Allston, Cambridge, Brockton, Randolph, Milton, Lynn, Chelsea, East/South Boston, Medford, Somerville You will be responsible for managing your caseload, so time management, good documentation, and communication skills are essential. Must be dependable with reliable transportation; all documentation is web-based.

COTA Primary Function:

Assists an Occupational Therapist with rehabilitative activities for patients who may have mental, developmental, physical, and emotional impairments. Prepares equipment for treatment. Requires an Associate Degree and passing a national examination to be a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA).

COTA Duties and Responsibilities:

Helps clients improve their quality of life by helping them compensate for limitations, such as helping injured workers improve their motor skills and re-enter the labor force, and teaching persons with learning disabilities to prepare meals or to use public transportation and increase their independence, Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with the occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as the proper method of moving from a bed into a wheelchair, and the best ways to stretch and limber muscles; monitoring activities to make sure they are performed correctly; providing encouragement; bringing treatment that is not having the intended effect to the attention of the therapist Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording client's progress for use by the occupational therapist. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Serves and protects the occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards. Able to complete all clinical documentation accurately and in a timley manner. COTA Qualifications and Skills Prior Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant experience preferred, but not necessary Currently licensed or registered as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Massachusetts.

$37.00 per hour
