Position Summary Gateway School is seeking a certified/licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) to provide temporary coverage for an Occupational Therapy caseload during an approximately 8-week leave. The OT or COTA will provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). COTAs will do this under the supervision and direction of a supervising Occupational Therapist. This provider will work collaboratively with classroom staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to support students' participation and success across the school environment. This position is intended to provide continuity of services and support for students during an OT's temporary leave, including implementation of established treatment plans, documentation, data collection, collaboration with school staff, and participation in required school meetings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be available at minimum 4 days per week, 30 hrs/week
- Follows all state-specific laws governing the provision of occupational therapy.
- Instruct whole group lessons as it relates to the scope of occupational therapy (e.g. vocational skills, life skills, self-hygiene, etc.)
- Perform only those procedures that he/she is qualified and trained to perform. OTA to make all recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Follows IEP service recommendations, both direct and indirect services
- Completes a daily session note for each session and submits progress reports to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Collaborates with other related service providers and educational staff
- Observe, document data, and request services for students who may be eligible or need OT support.
- Participate in school-based meetings including related services meetings, all staff meetings, and professional development/training meetings.
- Develop relationships and work collaboratively with administrators, school staff, parents/families and community partners to develop effective systems to meet the individualized needs of children.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move no more than 100 pounds. Education and/or Experience For COTA- an associate degree or a bachelor's degree from an occupational therapy assistant program. For Occupational Therapist- a minimum of a Master's degree from an occupational therapy program. Obtain a OTR or COTA credential by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). A minimum of two years clinical occupational therapy experience working within the pediatric population in a school setting. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 1. Possession of OTR or COTA from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy or eligible for certification. 2. Possession of a license in Occupational Therapy from the Maryland State Board of Examiners in OT or eligible for licensure. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Pay:
