Job Description

Job Title:
Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) |
Weekdays Company:
Home Health Care, Inc.
Location:
Mankato, St.
Peter, Waseca, New Prague, Le Sueur, Blue Earth & Surrounding Communities Schedule:
Full-Time or Part-Time | Monday-Friday | No Weekends |

$82,000-$110,000 Per Year Want to stand out from other applicants? Email Nikky Vogelgesang at nikky.vogelgesang@hhcare.net with your resume, where you're located, and a brief overview of your COTA background. We'll talk through patient coverage and where your location could fit best. Occupational Therapy Makes a Lot More Sense When You're Standing in the Patient's Kitchen. How does someone safely make breakfast when their dominant hand isn't working like it used to? Can they actually get dressed in their bedroom? Is there enough room to maneuver their walker into the bathroom? Can they reach what they use every day without losing their balance? What happens when the equipment and controlled environment of a therapy department disappear? In home health, you don't have to recreate everyday life. You're already in it. Home Health Care, Inc. is hiring Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to provide one-on-one therapy throughout Mankato, St. Peter, Waseca, New Prague, Le Sueur, Blue Earth, and surrounding communities . Treat the Activities Your Patient Actually Needs to Do Occupational Therapy is about function. And there's something powerful about practicing function in the exact environment where your patient needs it. Instead of simulating meal preparation, you're in their kitchen. Instead of recreating a bathroom transfer, you're helping them safely navigate their bathroom. Instead of asking whether their morning routine is difficult, you can see the barriers yourself. Under the direction of an OTR/L, you'll help patients develop the strength, coordination, strategies, and confidence necessary to participate more independently in everyday life. Why COTAs Take a Look $82,000-$110,000 annual compensation Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities Monday-Friday schedule No weekends No holidays One-on-one patient treatment Geography-based scheduling Mileage reimbursement between visits Cell phone reimbursement every paycheck PTO Full benefits package for eligible employees Free MedBridge Education Hub Licensure reimbursement Annual scrub allowance Experienced OTR/L and interdisciplinary support More than 30 years of home care experience Your Treatment Has an Immediate Connection to Everyday Life Your patients may be recovering from hospitalization, surgery, stroke, illness, injury, or a significant functional decline. The supervising Occupational Therapist establishes the plan of care. You'll help carry that plan into the activities patients need to perform every day.
That may include:
Dressing and grooming Bathing and toileting routines Meal preparation Upper-extremity function Fine motor skills and coordination Functional strengthening Cognitive and compensatory strategies Adaptive equipment Energy conservation Home safety Caregiver education The goal isn't simply completing an activity during therapy. It's helping the patient become more capable when you're no longer standing beside them. What You'll Be Doing Implement individualized treatment plans developed by supervising Occupational Therapists Provide skilled one-on-one Occupational Therapy treatment in patient homes Address ADLs and functional independence Provide fine motor, coordination, strengthening, cognitive, and functional activities Reinforce adaptive and compensatory strategies Educate patients and caregivers on safety and functional techniques Monitor patient response and communicate changes to the supervising OTR/L Support home safety and fall-prevention strategies Collaborate with PTs, PTAs, nurses, and other interdisciplinary clinicians Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation Your COTA Experience Can Come From Somewhere Else Previous home health experience is valuable, but it isn't the only background that can prepare you for this work. We're interested in COTAs from Skilled Nursing, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Transitional Care, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, Outpatient Therapy, Hospital Rehab, and Home Health . If you're comfortable providing hands-on treatment, educating patients and caregivers, adapting activities around functional limitations, and communicating effectively with an OTR/L, you already bring skills that can transfer well to home health. What You Bring Active Minnesota Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license Valid driver's license and insured, reliable transportation Strong patient and caregiver communication Ability to independently manage a field-based schedule Strong organization and documentation skills Comfort traveling within an assigned Southern Minnesota territory Home health and experience with geriatric or medically complex patients are preferred, but not required. There's No Better Place to Practice Everyday Function Than Everyday Life. Your patient doesn't ultimately need to succeed in a therapy gym. They need to succeed getting dressed in their bedroom, preparing something in their kitchen, navigating their bathroom, and safely participating in their own routines. Home health puts Occupational Therapy exactly where those things happen. Join Home Health Care, Inc. and earn $82,000-$110,000 annually with Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities, Monday-Friday scheduling, no weekends or holidays, and one-on-one patient care throughout Southern Minnesota. Want to stand out from other applicants? Email Nikky Vogelgesang at nikky.vogelgesang@hhcare.net with your resume, where you're located, and a brief overview of your COTA background. #COTA8
