Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant ABC Niños Special Needs Program - Queens, NYFull-Time

$65,000 per year About Us ABC Niños Special Needs Program is a New York State-approved 4410 preschool special education program located in Queens, NY. We serve children ages 2-5 with developmental delays and disabilities in a nurturing, inclusive environment that emphasizes early intervention and whole-child development. Job Summary ABC Niños is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide occupational therapy services to preschool-aged children with special needs in accordance with each child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and established occupational therapy treatment plans. Working under the direction and supervision of a New York State licensed Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will help students develop fine motor, sensory processing, self-help, visual-motor, and functional skills needed to participate successfully in the classroom and daily routines. Responsibilities Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to preschool-aged students in accordance with their IEPs and established treatment plans. Implement therapeutic activities and interventions developed in collaboration with the supervising Occupational Therapist. Support the development of fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-help, and functional skills. Monitor student performance and progress and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Maintain accurate and timely session notes, service records, progress documentation, and other required records. Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist with information needed for student progress reports, treatment planning, and IEP-related documentation. Collaborate with special education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support students across classroom environments. Participate in team meetings and other student-related meetings as appropriate. Help classroom staff and families carry over occupational therapy strategies into classroom activities and daily routines, consistent with the student's treatment plan and under the direction of the supervising Occupational Therapist. Follow all applicable NYSED, program, confidentiality, health, and safety requirements. Qualifications Associate degree from a New York State-registered, ACOTE-accredited, or otherwise NYSED-approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current New York State license and registration as an Occupational Therapy Assistant required. NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred. Pediatric, early childhood, or school-based occupational therapy experience preferred. Experience working with children with developmental delays, disabilities, sensory processing needs, or other special needs preferred. Experience in a preschool special education or

NYSED 4410

program is a plus. Bilingual Spanish-English is a plus. Skills Knowledge of fine motor development, sensory processing, visual-motor skills, self-help skills, and early childhood developmental milestones. Ability to implement occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Compassionate, patient, dependable, and child-centered approach. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary preschool special education team.
