Job Description
Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Outpatient Therapy team within Healthcare & Medical Services. In this role, you'll collaborate with occupational therapists to implement individualized treatment plans, support patients in restoring function and independence, and document progress according to regulatory and Mercy standards. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and contribute to quality improvement. Responsibilities Collaborate with supervising Occupational Therapists to implement individualized outpatient treatment plans based on patient evaluations and established goals. Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, including exercises, functional activities, and use of adaptive equipment to improve patients' daily living skills and independence. Monitor, document, and report patient progress accurately and in a timely manner using electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer requirements. Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safe use of adaptive equipment, and strategies to support functional improvement and long-term wellness. Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers, to ensure integrated and patient-centered treatment. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized outpatient therapy environment following infection control and safety standards. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuous learning opportunities to stay current with best practices in outpatient occupational therapy. Assist with scheduling, patient flow, and basic administrative tasks to support efficient clinic operations and positive patient experiences.
