Responsibilities Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote patient independence Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed goals and protocols Support pediatric occupational therapy sessions addressing childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) interventions Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals including physicians, physical therapists, and caregivers to optimize patient outcomes Document care activities accurately in care documentation systems while maintaining compliance with medical terminology standards Facilitate patient transport within the facility or home health settings safely through manual handling techniques Contribute to care plan development by providing observations on patient progress and response to therapy Requirements Valid certification/license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program/State of South Carolina Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, or home health environments Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and treatment plan implementation Experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, geriatrics, and pediatric populations including childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and client interaction Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently during patient care activities Acute care experience is preferred but not mandatory; a proactive attitude towards learning is essential Familiarity with medical imaging concepts related to occupational therapy assessments is a plus Join us in delivering compassionate occupational therapy services that transform lives!
