An Occupational Therapy Assistant assists occupational therapists to help patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. Helps patients to recover and develop skills need for daily activities. Pediatric Occupational Therapist / Clinical Supervisor Position Summary The Pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services to pediatric patients in clinical, home health, school, and/or community settings. The COTA helps children develop functional skills, improve independence in daily activities, and reach individualized developmental goals. Key Responsibilities Clinical Service Delivery Implement individualized treatment plans as developed by the supervising OT to address fine motor, gross motor, sensory, self-care, play, and school-related skills. Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises through play-based, child-centered interventions. Provide direct 1:1 therapy sessions in clinic, home, school, or community environments. Documentation & Communication Maintain timely and accurate documentation including progress notes, treatment logs, and communication with supervising OT per agency and licensing requirements. Monitor and record patient progress and functional performance; report findings to the supervising OT to guide ongoing plan of care adjustments. Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and team members about goals, home programs, and strategies to support carry-over. Collaboration & Professional Practice Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, teachers, behavioral specialists, and other clinical team members to provide coordinated care. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and caregiver education sessions. Uphold ethical practice, professional standards, and maintain compliance with state licensure regulations.
Qualifications Required:
Associate's Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program; completion of supervised fieldwork. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and valid Texas license in good standing. Ability to provide compassionate, child-focused therapy with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Experience in pediatrics, including early intervention, school-based therapy, outpatient pediatrics, or home health. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus, depending on patient population. Working Conditions Flexible work environments including ABA centers, homes, daycares , and community settings. Frequent interaction with children ages birth to adolescence and their families.
