Maple Springs is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dependable Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. The COTA will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide skilled occupational therapy interventions designed to help residents improve their functional abilities, independence, safety, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is committed to providing excellent resident-centered care, and works well as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Essential Responsibilities Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision and direction of the Occupational Therapist. Assist residents in improving independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and other functional activities. Implement individualized treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist. Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve strength, coordination, balance, range of motion, endurance, cognition, and functional performance. Assist residents with functional mobility, transfers, positioning, and safety techniques as appropriate. Educate residents and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques, safety strategies, adaptive equipment, and home or discharge recommendations as directed by the OT. Monitor resident responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition, progress, concerns, or barriers to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Document treatments and resident progress accurately and in a timely manner according to facility, payer, and regulatory requirements. Participate in interdisciplinary communication and care planning as appropriate. Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Speech-Language Pathologists, nursing staff, physicians, social services, and other members of the healthcare team. Assist with discharge planning and carryover of therapeutic recommendations as directed by the supervising OT. Maintain resident dignity, privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times. Follow all facility policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. Promote a positive rehabilitation environment that encourages residents to participate in their care and achieve meaningful functional goals. Qualifications Current COTA certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Current or eligible Utah COTA licensure . Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain as required. Previous experience in skilled nursing, geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long-term care is preferred but not required. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively with residents, families, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Compassionate, dependable, and professional approach to resident care.
