Responsibilities Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing and operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as auto-refractor, OCT, lensometer and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including, performing eye refraction tests, and capturing detailed medical histories using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Manage patient intake processes efficiently, ensuring accurate documentation of symptoms, medical history, and current medications while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by applying aseptic techniques during procedures, adhering to infection control protocols, and managing medical records with precision. Educate patients on their upcoming procedures or treatments, providing clear instructions on eye care routines and answering questions with professionalism and empathy. Support clinic operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, updating medical records accurately, and assisting with billing or coding processes related to ophthalmic services. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics. Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy of the eye, and physiology related to visual health. Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan devices and tonometers. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or similar platforms for managing patient information efficiently. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure the privacy and security of patient data. Ability to perform direct patient care with a compassionate approach while maintaining high standards of clinical accuracy.
