Summary As an Optometric Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the optometrist by performing pre-exam and diagnostic testing, assisting with patient care, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation. This position is essential for ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care and attention during their visits. No optometric or ophthalmology experience needed. We will train the right candidate! Starting at $16 an hour , benefits include: Paid time off and paid holidays 401(k) Employee discounts, and free eye exams A schedule built for work-life balance: You'll work Monday - Friday (only half the day on Fridays!), averaging 36 hours per week, ensuring you have your evenings and weekends free. Responsibilities Preparing patients to see the doctor: This includes accurately recording patient medical histories (in person and over the phone) into the EHR system, and performing pre-testing procedures such as autorefraction, tonometry, visual acuity testing, and retinal imaging. Conducting special testing procedures such as OCT imaging and visual field testing Training patients on contact lens insertion and removal techniques and proper care of their lenses Cleaning and maintaining exam lanes and diagnostic equipment Assisting the optometrist during exams as needed You will also be cross-trained for other positions so you are able to support other team members when needed, adding variety to your day and enhancing your skills. Requirements Experience in an optometric, ophthalmologic, or medical office preferred Experience in taking vital signs and assisting in a medical office setting preferred Ability to accurately document patient interactions including information on existing conditions and complaints in EHR system Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills required Ability to follow detailed procedure instructions Detail oriented and strong problem-solving abilities Ability to multitask and work efficiently with a team and independently We are looking for caring, detail-oriented, and dependable individuals who want to be part of a family-like team.
