Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting ophthalmologists and optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services. This position requires a blend of technical skills, patient interaction, and a solid understanding of medical terminology related to eye health. Duties Perform preliminary eye exams, including visual acuity tests and tonometry. Perform ancillary tests such as fundus photography, OCT, topography and visual fields which are needed PRN during any given session. Assist with minor surgeries and injections as needed. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on proper eye care and treatment options. Support the ophthalmologist and/or optometrist during examinations and minor surgical procedures. Uses EMR in documentation (scribing) during the exam process. Ensure the cleanliness and aseptic technique in the examination rooms and equipment. Collaborate with team members to enhance patient experience and streamline operations. Stay updated on optical products, services, and advancements in ophthalmology. Experience Candidates should possess a strong foundation in the following areas: Patient care experience, preferably in an eye care or healthcare setting. Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care. Knowledge of optical products and retail sales techniques. Experience with electronic medical records systems such as Epic is a plus. Understanding of anatomy relevant to the ocular system. Experience working with pediatric patients is desirable but not mandatory.
