In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing exceptional patient care through precise diagnostic testing, imaging, and clinical support. Duties Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), DEXA scans, and other advanced ophthalmic imaging techniques to assist in comprehensive eye evaluations. Operate and maintain medical equipment such as slit lamps, autorefractors, tonometers, and clinical chemistry analyzers with precision and adherence to safety protocols. Conduct patient assessments by collecting medical histories, measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and performing refraction tests to support accurate diagnosis. Assist with specialized procedures like mammography or point-of-care testing (POCT) when applicable, ensuring proper technique and documentation. Support the clinical team by managing patient flow, preparing exam rooms, and documenting clinical information accurately within electronic health records and clinical information systems. Educate patients on procedures, post-exam care, and health screenings related to ocular health or systemic conditions affecting vision. Collaborate with the healthcare team to evaluate diagnostic results such as CT scans or other radiology reports that influence treatment decisions for trauma or emergency cases. Qualifications Proven experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as

OCT, DEXA

scanners, or other imaging modalities; experience with CT scans or mammography is a plus. Strong knowledge of human physiology, anatomy related to the eye and visual system, and medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology. Familiarity with clinical laboratory processes including clinical chemistry analyzers and point-of-care testing (POCT). Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service, communication, and professionalism in diverse healthcare settings. Ability to work efficiently within clinical information systems while maintaining accuracy in data entry and documentation. Prior experience in emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous for handling urgent cases effectively. Certifications in ophthalmic assisting or relevant medical fields are preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged to stay current with technological advancements.
