Join Our Team We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated Medical Scribe to join our ophthalmology practice. This position is ideal for someone interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience while working alongside an ophthalmologist in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. The primary responsibility of this role is medical scribing—accurately documenting patient encounters in real time to support efficient, high-quality patient care. As you become proficient in the role, you'll have the opportunity to receive additional training and advance into an Ophthalmic Technician position, learning diagnostic testing and direct patient care skills. ResponsibilitiesMedical Scribe (Primary Role) Accompany the physician during patient visits and accurately document medical histories, examinations, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR). Record patient information in real time while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Ensure charts are complete and ready for physician review. Assist with documenting referrals, prescriptions, imaging, and follow-up plans. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Help keep clinic workflow efficient by preparing charts and coordinating documentation needs. Patient Care Support Greet and escort patients to exam rooms. Obtain and document medical histories and chief complaints. Assist patients with questions and provide pre-exam instructions. Coordinate with providers and staff to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Growth Opportunity:

Ophthalmic Technician Training As experience and proficiency are gained, opportunities may include: Performing visual acuity testing, tonometry (IOP), refraction, keratometry, and other ophthalmic testing. Assisting with OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, and other diagnostic procedures. Operating and maintaining ophthalmic equipment. Assisting physicians during minor office procedures. Educating patients on treatment plans and follow-up care. Expanding clinical responsibilities based on training and performance. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience as a medical scribe, medical assistant, or in an ophthalmology, optometry, or other healthcare setting is a plus but not required . We are happy to train the right candidate who is motivated to learn. Strong typing, computer, and documentation skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Professional communication and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is a plus. Interest in healthcare, ophthalmology, and learning new clinical skills. Desire to grow into an Ophthalmic Technician role through on-the-job training. Schedule & Additional Responsibilities This position is part-time, averaging approximately 26 hours per week , with 8-hour shifts . The schedule is primarily based on clinic days when the physician is seeing patients , rather than surgical days. Because the primary responsibility of this role is medical scribing, your regular work schedule will largely coincide with clinic hours. While this position's primary focus is medical scribing, we value a team-oriented environment where everyone contributes to delivering an exceptional patient experience. Depending on staffing needs, you may occasionally assist with front desk responsibilities, including answering phones, checking patients in or out, scheduling appointments, or other administrative tasks. These duties are expected to be occasional and are intended to support the overall success of the practice.
