In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of patient care, utilizing your technical expertise to capture high-quality ocular images and perform specialized diagnostic procedures. Your enthusiasm and precision will directly contribute to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans, ensuring our patients receive exceptional eye care in a compassionate environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmic imaging, patient interaction, and clinical procedures while working alongside experienced professionals dedicated to advancing eye health. Duties Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as fundus cameras, optical coherence tomography (OCT), A-scan biometry devices, and tonometers with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Capture high-quality images for documentation and analysis, including retinal photographs, anterior segment photos, and fluorescein angiography images using IVFA techniques. Assist with ophthalmic patient examinations by measuring intraocular pressure, and supporting clinicians during diagnostic assessments. Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies while managing electronic health records (EHR) accurately. Support intake processes by verifying insurance information, updating medical records, and ensuring all documentation complies with medical coding standards. Ensure all medical equipment is properly sterilized, calibrated, and maintained for optimal performance during procedures. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, including eye anatomy, physiology, and common ocular conditions. Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as fundus cameras, OCT devices, A-scan biometry tools, tonometers, and fluorescein angiography systems. Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) for accurate documentation of patient data and procedure notes. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately during intake and examinations. Ability to perform ophthalmic patient examinations including eye refraction, intraocular pressure measurement, and anterior segment assessment. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and clinical procedures for effective communication within the healthcare team. Experience with medical office operations such as scheduling, insurance verification, medical coding, and maintaining medical records. Ability to operate clinical equipment safely following aseptic techniques to prevent infection or contamination.
