Job Overview Lee Eyecare Center is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optometric Assistant to join our team. We are seeking someone who enjoys working with patients, is detailed-oriented, and can provide excellent customer service in a busy optometry practice. Responsibilities Welcome and room patients in a warm, professional manner Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, including: Visual acuity Autorefraction Tonometry OCT Optos/retinal imaging Visual fields Other testing as needed Assist the doctor during comprehensive eye exams Prepare examination rooms and maintain clean, organized equipment Enter accurate patient information and test results into the EHR Review medications, allergies, and relevant medical history Assist with contact lens training and patient education when appropriate Help patients with frame selection and optical needs when needed Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow Verify insurance benefits and assist with basic insurance-related tasks Provide exceptional patient service and answer patient questions Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements Perform other duties that support the smooth operation of the practice Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry, tonometry devices, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools with precision and aseptic technique. Assist with ophthalmic patient examinations, including eye refraction, visual acuity testing, and basic clinical assessments under the supervision of the optometrist. Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems accurately, documenting patient information, test results, and medical records efficiently. Support the clinical team by performing tasks such as maintaining medical supplies, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring a clean, organized work environment. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring patients feel comfortable throughout their visit. Assist with medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic procedures when necessary. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to medical equipment operation and infection control standards. Qualifications Previous optometry, ophthalmology, medical office, or healthcare experience preferred Optometric technician experience is a plus Experience with pre-testing equipment is preferred Strong communication and customer service skills Comfortable working with computers and electronic health records Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Able to multitask in a busy clinical environment Positive attitude and professional appearance Ability to work well as part of a team We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, excellent people skills, and a desire to learn.

Pay:

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
