We are a busy, high-volume practice that values teamwork, efficiency, clinical accuracy, and excellent patient service. Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our clinical team. Strong refraction experience is required for this position. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-volume ophthalmology office while maintaining accuracy and providing a positive patient experience. Each technician has their own dedicated workup room , and our practice uses ModMed for electronic health records (EHR). Duties Complete thorough patient workups, including medical histories, visual acuities, refractions, and intraocular pressure measurements. Perform accurate refractions independently. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging equipment safely and accurately. Document patient histories, testing results, and clinical information in ModMed. Assist physicians with ophthalmic examinations and in-office procedures. Educate patients regarding testing, treatments, and pre- and post-procedure instructions. Maintain a steady and efficient patient flow in a high-volume clinical setting. Clean and maintain workup rooms and ophthalmic equipment. Protect patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA and clinical compliance requirements. Work collaboratively with providers, scribes, and other clinical team members. Requirements Previous ophthalmic technician experience and proven refraction proficiency are required. Must be able to perform accurate refractions independently. Experience working in a fast-paced or high-volume ophthalmology setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, eye anatomy, and common ophthalmic procedures. Experience with visual acuity testing, tonometry, and ophthalmic diagnostic equipment. Experience with ModMed is preferred, but training can be provided. Strong clinical documentation, communication, and patient service skills. Ability to remain organized, accurate, and professional while managing a busy patient schedule.
