Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and compassionate Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will assist our optometrists in providing comprehensive eye exams, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring a smooth patient experience. You'll play a critical role in maintaining patient records, preparing exam rooms, and educating patients about their eye health.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient intake, including taking medical histories and performing preliminary tests (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, pupil dilation).
  • Conduct and document diagnostic tests such as OCT, retinal imaging, and visual field testing.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked and sanitized.
  • Educate patients about the tests being performed and provide clear instructions on pre
  • and post-exam care.
  • Record patient information accurately into the electronic medical record system.
  • Provide support to the optometrist during exams and procedures.
  • Help patients with frame selection and basic eyewear fittings.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and supplies.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and assist in patient communication.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Ophthalmic or Optometric Technology is a plus).
  • Previous experience as an Optometric Technician or in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction when needed.
