Job Description

We are a fast-paced medical office looking for a smart, innovative, proactive, and people-oriented person to join our team as a technician and patient advocate. The ideal candidate understands the importance of the technician role in protecting the health of others. This is a learning opportunity for those looking to advance themselves in the career of healthcare. He or she is both detail-oriented and accountable, and understands that missed details of the job can cause physically or financially devastating outcomes for patients. The individual must be self-motivated and a fast learner who wants to master the core functions quickly and potentially grow it into a wider role with more responsibility. Previous experience in a doctor's office setting is preferred, but our practice will train the right candidate with a strong potential and right attitude, and dedication to staying long term. Substantial investment will be made to position the candidate for career success in the field. This role is not for someone seeking a summer job as this is an opportunity to learn and grow with a growing practice.

Rooming patients Checking visual acuity Basic medical history (new and returning patients) Eye drop administration and understanding contraindications Pachymetry Rebound tonometry OCTmacula OCTnerve Fundus Photo Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) ARx BAT Lensometer Uploading imaging reports
Minimum Qualifications:
Hospitable. A candidate must be patient, empathetic, and work well with others, in addition to being extremely likable. This position is a people-facing position that involves teamwork. Our office is a close team relying heavily on each other. Proficiency in English language (grammatically correct speaking, reading, and writing skills at a native speaker proficiency). A core responsibility of the role is communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and pharmacies. Speaking multiple languages is a strong plus, but not required. Intermediate-level computing and typing skills.
Examples include:
data entry, word processing, calendaring/scheduling, internet search, electronic fax, phone systems, and email. Must have familiarity with using Windows operating systems. A basic typing and computer test will be administered during the interview. Fast learner. The practice is growing every day. The candidate should be prepared and desire personal and professional growth, and be able to receive constructive criticism very well, with the end goal of delivering the best medical care possible. Experience with working patients in a medical setting is preferred, however, it is not necessary for the right candidate. If the candidate is motivated to learn, takes instruction well, and is very adaptable, he or she will do well, regardless of experience.
