Job Description
Ophthalmic Technician — Optometry Practice (Brentwood, CA) We're an independent optometry practice inside the Costco Wholesale in Brentwood, CA, and looking for a full-time ophthalmic technician to join our team. You'll work closely with the doctor from day one, with real input into how our clinic workflow is built. This role blends clinical technician duties with front-of-house coverage — you'll be a key part of the patient experience from check-in through the exam. What you'll do: Perform pre-testing: visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging Assist with contact lens fittings and instruction Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinical equipment Support chair-side assistance during exams as needed Help manage referrals and co-management documentation Cover check-in/checkout, payment collection during rotating front-desk shifts Coordinate the daily scheduling and patient flow . Qualifications Comfortable with diagnostic equipment (autorefractor, retinal camera, tonometer) Comfortable rotating between clinical and front-desk duties throughout the day Strong attention to detail and patient communication skills Comfortable in a fast-paced clinic seeing ~16-20 patients/day Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, not required Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management systems for documentation and data entry.
