This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, learns rapidly, and takes pride in supporting a practice that prioritizes personalized care and an elevated patient experience. Position Overview The Optometric Assistant plays a central role in ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering a warm, attentive experience to every patient. You will be the first point of contact for patients, guiding them through pre‑testing, assisting with eyewear selection, and supporting the doctor with clinical and administrative tasks. Our office is known for its meticulous attention to detail, calm environment, and commitment to excellence, so we are looking for someone who naturally aligns with these values. Key Responsibilities Provide polished, friendly, and professional customer service from check‑in to check‑out Perform preliminary testing including autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and visual field screening Assist patients with frame styling, lens education, and optical selections Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, pre‑test areas, and optical displays Manage scheduling, patient communication, and coordination of care Support the doctor with chart preparation, documentation, and workflow efficiency Troubleshoot issues calmly and think on your feet when unexpected situations arise Uphold strict standards of honesty, confidentiality, and ethical patient care Work independently and take initiative without needing constant direction What We're Looking For A quick learner who can absorb new information, technology, and procedures with ease Someone independent and self‑directed, able to anticipate needs and stay productive without supervision A person who is honest , reliable, and committed to maintaining the integrity of patient care Strong customer service instincts — warm, articulate, and attentive The ability to think on your feet , adapt to changing situations, and solve problems gracefully Professional communication skills and a calm, polished demeanor Prior optometry or medical office experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate Schedule & Compensation Part‑time: approximately 12-16 hours per week Flexible scheduling within office hours Competitive hourly rate based on experience Opportunity for growth, additional training, and expanded responsibilities About Our Practice We are a private boutique optometry office known for delivering exceptional care, personalized service, and a welcoming environment.
