Ophthalmic Technician Duties:
  • Performing ophthalmic tests, including visual acuity (checking vision), applanation tonometry (checking pressure in the eyes), obtaining pictures of the back of the eye
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and Fluorescein Angiography (FA)
  • Accurately obtaining a complete patient history including chief complaints, past ocular/medical concerns and history of allergies and medications
  • Responding to patient phone calls in order to triage questions and concerns
Advanced Duties:
Upon mastering the initial responsibilities of a technician, additional duties of a Scribe (as listed below) will be assigned:
  • Assisting with patient pre/post operative counseling, in-office procedure set up and accompanying the physician in the exam room in order to thoroughly and accurately scribe intraocular findings into our electronic medical record
  • Managing prescription refill requests
  • Completing Disability and DMV patient forms Candidates who are efficient, reliable, professional, detail oriented and organized, with the ability to communicate and work well with others are encouraged to apply.
Prior experience is not required, but a healthcare career track is preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. Healthcare employment requires proof of COVID Vaccination.
