Medical Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician South Coast Retina Center

)Ophthalmic Technician Duties:
- Performing ophthalmic tests, including visual acuity (checking vision), applanation tonometry (checking pressure in the eyes), obtaining pictures of the back of the eye
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and Fluorescein Angiography (FA)
- Accurately obtaining a complete patient history including chief complaints, past ocular/medical concerns and history of allergies and medications
- Responding to patient phone calls in order to triage questions and concerns
Advanced Duties:
Upon mastering the initial responsibilities of a technician, additional duties of a Scribe (as listed below) will be assigned:- Assisting with patient pre/post operative counseling, in-office procedure set up and accompanying the physician in the exam room in order to thoroughly and accurately scribe intraocular findings into our electronic medical record
- Managing prescription refill requests
