Opto Bar is expanding across multiple Walmart locations in the Sacramento area, and we're looking for friendly, dependable, tech-savvy Optometric Technicians to join our growing eye care team. Opto Bar uses a hybrid eye-care model with both in-person and remote optometrists . On remote-doctor days, the technician is the key team member physically present with the patient. You'll perform pre-testing and diagnostic imaging, prepare the patient for the exam, operate in-office technology, and help connect the patient with one of our licensed remote optometrists for a live eye examination. You'll work closely with our doctors throughout the day to keep patients moving smoothly through the exam process. The optometrist performs the clinical examination and makes all clinical decisions; the technician supports the patient, technology, testing and workflow from inside the practice. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in optometry, healthcare and technology , particularly someone who is comfortable working independently while being part of a larger clinical team.

What You'll Do:

Welcome patients and guide them through their eye exam experience Check patients in and confirm intake forms and required information Perform preliminary testing and diagnostic imaging before the doctor examination Measure visual acuity and perform standard optometric pre-testing Operate computerized optometric equipment and retinal imaging technology Capture high-quality retinal and other eye-health images for doctor review Prepare the patient and exam room for both in-person and remote optometrists Connect patients with licensed remote optometrists through our live tele-optometry system Communicate directly with remote doctors throughout the patient's examination Assist the remote doctor with the in-office technology and exam workflow Make sure testing and imaging are complete and available to the doctor before the examination Help keep patients moving efficiently between check-in, pre-testing, doctor examination and checkout Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal education when appropriate Help with appointment confirmations, follow-ups, recalls and rescheduling Maintain clean, organized and patient-ready exam rooms Complete daily equipment checks and basic technology troubleshooting Follow Opto Bar protocols, HIPAA requirements and patient privacy standards Work collaboratively with Opto Bar doctors, other Sacramento technicians and Walmart Vision Center associates Comfortable working with remote doctors. On some clinic days, your optometrist may be providing care remotely. You should be comfortable communicating with doctors through technology, following their direction, preparing patients and equipment, and managing the in-office side of the patient experience. Able to take ownership of a clinic. On remote-doctor days, you may be the primary Opto Bar team member physically present at the location. We're looking for someone mature, organized and dependable who can keep the clinic running smoothly while staying connected with our remote clinical and operations teams.

Pay:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 40.0 per week
