We are a small independent optical practice looking for a welcoming, detail-oriented, patient-centered Optical Assistant / Receptionist to join our close-knit team. This position is for full day Friday and some Saturdays. It would also include occassional half days (4hrs) or full days (8hrs) on weekdays to cover other colleagues who need coverage. What You'll Do Greet and Schedule appointment: Welcome patients, schedule patients in the EMR calendar software, answer and direct phonecalls to the appropriate person.

Pre-Testing:

Perform preliminary testing to support patient care.

Insurance Billing:

Quote insurance co-pays, process eyeglasses and contact lens orders, and submit insurance claims.

Use EMR software:

Input patient data, pull insurance authorizations, and input orders into the EMR accurately.

Dispense Eyewear:

Help patients select and fit frames and lenses that meet their prescription and lifestyle needs.

Frame Adjustments & Repairs:

Perform minor adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure patient satisfaction with their eyewear.

Optical Measurements:

Take accurate measurements including PD, seg heights, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt.

Patient Education:

Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care, make recommendations based on their prescription needs and preferences.

Inventory Support:

Assist with contact lens trial inventory and order contact lenses.

Support Office:

Support general office operations and help keep a clean office environment.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with optometrists and front desk staff to ensure a seamless patient experience. What We're Looking For Part Time / Floater (8-16hrs/week) Must be available Fridays and occasional half day Saturdays (4-6hrs). $20.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 - 16.0 per week
