Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Optometric Technician to join our dedicated eye care team. In this vital role, you will support optometrists by preparing patients for exams, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and ensuring a smooth clinical flow. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help deliver exceptional patient care and create a welcoming environment for all visitors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in optometry, medical records management, and patient interaction within a patient-focused setting. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to ensure accurate medical records. Measure pre-testing such as autorefractor, autokeratometer, optomap photos and auto lensometry to provide essential data for eye examinations. Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining procedures, adjusting equipment, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout all clinical activities. Assist the optometrist during examinations by performing preliminary testing including visual acuity assessments and preliminary history and chief complaint documentation. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Support optical sales by providing product knowledge, assisting with frame selections, and processing retail transactions using retail math skills. Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or optomety clinics is highly preferred; strong optical experience is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures enhances your ability to support clinical activities effectively. Familiarity with EMR systems or other healthcare software ensures smooth documentation processes. Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to handle front desk duties such as appointment scheduling and answering inquiries. Basic understanding of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmology services is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail; experience in retail sales or retail math can be beneficial for optical sales responsibilities. Join our team where your enthusiasm meets purpose!
