Job Description

Premier ophthalmology office, Insight Eye Institute , in Pompano Beach is looking for a friendly and energetic ophthalmic technician to join our team. This position is for Part-time (20-30 hours/week) or Full Time. Position will require traveling to Fort lauderdale office.
OPHTHALMOLOGY EXPERIENCE
preferred.
Working Hours:
Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Compensation commensurate with experience. The ophthalmic technician is an integral part of our team that support the physicians in providing patient care. The ophthalmic technician is responsible for obtaining patient history and performing necessary diagnostic tests. Ophthalmology experience preferred for all applicants. Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document comprehensive medical and ophthalmic history utilizing an electronic medical records system (Modernizing Medicine).
  • Obtain preliminary examination screening (Visual acuity, pupillary assessment, confrontational visual fields, motility, tonometry, etc).
  • Measure glasses with lensometer.
  • Obtain auto refraction and perform manual refraction with phoropter.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and testing including automated visual fields, OCT, topography, IOL Master, fundus photography, A/B scans.
  • Assist with office-based procedures.
  • Assist with contact lens fits and training patients on insertion/removal of contact lenses.
  • Assist in patient care refilling prescriptions, returning patient calls.
  • Opening and closing of equipment, and infection control of each room on a daily basis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked with adequate supplies.
  • Other tasks as required by your supervisor. Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • All applicants should possess the skills to learn new information and tasks quickly.
  • All applicants should possess excellent computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • All candidates should exhibit a professional demeanor, organizational skills, and work well with others.
  • Applicants must be comfortable with patient triage and work-up as well as assisting physician with patient care.
  • Applicant should have reliable transportation and have flexibility in schedule to accommodate patient care.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Maintain and comply with patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and integrity policy on all matters.
  • Position requires walking throughout the office setting.
Position requires use of both hands to perform testing procedures. Minimal lifting of supplies to cabinets, assistance of elderly patients to exam chair. May have to push patients in a wheelchair. Competitive compensation based on experience and prior ophthalmology skill set.
