Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The Ophthalmic Technician plays an important role in supporting our physicians and providing excellent patient care throughout the patient's visit. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice, has strong attention to detail, communicates well with patients and coworkers, and takes pride in providing accurate and compassionate care. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient intake, including obtaining medical history, documenting symptoms, and updating patient information. Perform ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures accurately and efficiently. Measure and document visual acuity, including distance, near, pinhole, and other appropriate testing. Measure intraocular pressure and perform slit-lamp examinations. Perform ocular motility testing to evaluate eye muscle function. Perform visual field testing and document results appropriately. Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment according to office procedures. Measure and record lens power using a lensometer. Perform Manifest Refraction (MR) using a phoropter to assist in determining the patient's refractive needs. Administer topical ophthalmic and oral medications as directed and within applicable scope of practice. Document patient encounters, test results, medications, and treatment plans accurately in the Nextech EMR system. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA requirements. Educate patients regarding eye health, medications, procedures, and post-procedure instructions. Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures as needed. Maintain accurate and complete patient records. Assist with patient flow and communicate effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Provide occasional support to front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting with patient check-in/check-out. Ophthalmology, optometry, or other ophthalmic clinical experience is highly valued. Knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Experience performing ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems; Nextech experience is a plus . Ability to accurately document patient information and test results. Knowledge of HIPAA and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional, dependable, and patient-focused. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
