Join a Specialized Ophthalmology Practice Our practice is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with dry eye disease and other complex ocular surface disorders. We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Medical Technician to join our team. This is an opportunity to work closely with Dr. Steven L. Maskin , an internationally recognized ophthalmologist, researcher, and innovator in the treatment of dry eye disease. You'll gain exposure to advanced diagnostic testing and specialized procedures while working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment committed to clinical excellence. We are primarily seeking candidates with prior ophthalmic experience. However, applicants with ophthalmic scrub technician, surgical technologist, or comparable microsurgical experience are also encouraged to apply, as specialty training can be provided for the right individual. Work alongside a physician recognized for innovation in ophthalmology Learn advanced techniques and procedures not commonly performed in most practices Enjoy a predictable weekday schedule with no weekends Every Friday afternoon off Collaborative, supportive work environment Opportunity for continued professional growth and hands-on learning Core Responsibilities As a member of our clinical team, you will: Obtain patient ocular and medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints Perform preliminary ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures Assist the physician during examinations and office-based procedures Accurately document patient encounters within the medical record Educate patients regarding medications, testing, procedures, and treatment plans Prepare examination and procedure rooms while maintaining sterilization standards Anticipate physician needs and assist efficiently throughout the clinical day Maintain instruments, supplies, and clinical equipment Prepare patient charts for clinic visits and surgical procedures Coordinate surgical scheduling and pre-operative requirements Respond professionally to patient phone calls and electronic communications Help create a welcoming, efficient, and compassionate patient experience What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Has prior ophthalmic clinical experience Provides exceptional patient care with compassion and professionalism Communicates clearly and confidently with patients and colleagues Remains calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates excellent attention to detail Anticipates physician and patient needs Enjoys learning and continuously improving Works well as part of a collaborative team Is dependable, punctual, and highly organized Is comfortable using computers and electronic medical records Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum two years of clinical medical experience Preferred One or more years of ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic assistant experience COA, COT, or other ophthalmic certification Experience assisting with ophthalmic procedures Strong knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and diagnostic testing Also Encouraged to Apply Candidates with experience as: Ophthalmic Scrub Technician Surgical Technologist Surgical Assistant Operating Room Technician Other microsurgical specialties While ophthalmic experience is strongly preferred, we recognize that exceptional procedural skills, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn can also make for an outstanding addition to our team. Comprehensive specialty training will be provided for the right candidate
