Job Description

We are looking for the best and brightest techs who want to grow professionally. Tired of "Vision, pressure, dilate monotony"? Want a job that stimulates your mind? Tired of assembly line medicine? Are you looking for a job where you are not a robot ? Most ophthalmic tech jobs involve a minimal history, vision, pressure and then you move on to the next patient. At those places, there usually isn't much opportunity to advance. Not here. We are looking for career professionals who desire a challenging career with others and who pride themselves in doing great work. This could be the job for you! Here is opportunity for career, salary and benefit growth. Most of our techs grow to do everything at the office and even helping in eye and eyelid surgery at our surgery center. Here you are expected to know what happened to the patient last time, why they are here this time, and anticipate where the visit is going so that the patient's experience is the best. You are encouraged to think and participate in the care. You get to know the patient so we welcome your insight. No unnecessary patient procedures are "sold" here.
Ideal candidates:
Desire to be cross trained in all clinic procedures and testing equipment. Must have at least one year of experience working in an ophthalmologist's (MD) office as a clinical assistant. The experience must be with an MD or have an undergraduate degree and are seeking to get into medical school, optometry school, or PA school. 6 of our former techs have gone on to medical school! You should be a fast two handed typist. We use Electronic Medical Records so comfort with the computer is a must. Must be able to perform applanation tonometry ( for those with experience in an MD's office) Must be able to manually refract. ( For those with MD experience) (Sorry, auto-refraction doesn't count). Have excellent written and spoken English Language Skills. Additionally, the same in Spanish is helpful but not required. Desire a job where you are not a robot. We test pre-employment. Must be self motivated to learn and read in the field of Ophthalmology. Not be prone to missing work often Appreciate a gossip free work place. The job requires the skill set of a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician. Those are certifications that involve standardized tests and experience.
