This position is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and clinical assistance to optometrists in the administration of primary vision care. This position will operate in mobile (we take the equipment into a facility to provide services) and on-site clinic settings in Chamblee.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Assist optometrist in providing care and service to patients. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, partners, and volunteers. Explain testing process to patients, preparing them, and administering tests on visual capabilities. Collect patient histories and assist in frame selection. Maintain patient records before, during and after examinations. Comply with all confidentiality regulations. Process intake and applications. Process eyeglass orders promptly as required. Provide referral services for specialty care; surgery or primary care. Handle challenging situations in a clinical environment while maintaining professionalism. Setting up and taking care of all optical equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills Required:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of related experience and/or training that would provide the required abilities. Excellent customer service and communication skills Two years related optics experience or training. Optometric Certification preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with comfort in safely driving a cargo van. Experience working with a diverse range of people. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications and database applications. Knowledge of optics and the optical lab preferred. Experience with EHRs such as eClinical Works and Flexus a plus Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information regarding patients. Ability to work with minimal supervision and timely follow through. Ability to work effectively and interact with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and patients. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be detail oriented. Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn and continuously improve.
Working Conditions:
General office work environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; hear, see, and perform repetitive motions. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting materials of heavier weight equipment (40 pounds). Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Physical demands include close vision for computer work. Travel estimated up to 75% to include weekends, depending upon scheduling requirements.
