Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician/Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and skilled professional supporting both patient care and clinic operations. This vital role combines clinical assistance with front desk responsibilities, ensuring a seamless patient experience from check-in to exam completion. You will perform essential eye care procedures, manage electronic health records, and deliver exceptional patient service in a fast-paced, compassionate environment. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help us provide top-quality ophthalmic care while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and accurately complete intake procedures Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and other relevant health data prior to examinations Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during eye exams by preparing equipment and patient positioning Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment including A-scan devices, tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools Conduct ophthalmic patient examinations, including eye refraction tests and basic assessments of visual acuity Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies at all times Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems efficiently for accurate documentation of patient visits and procedures Support the clinical team with aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during procedures Handle administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, answering phones, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments using retail math skills Educate patients about their eye health, upcoming procedures, or follow-up care options Requirements Prior medical office experience with a focus on ophthalmology or optometry preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology fundamentals Experience operating medical equipment such as A-scan ultrasound devices, tonometers, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging tools Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records accurately and securely Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality Ability to perform intake assessments including vital signs collection and basic patient history gathering Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude towards patient care and engagement Ability to follow detailed clinical protocols while working efficiently in a busy environment Basic retail math skills for processing payments or insurance co-pays effectively Join us if you're passionate about delivering exceptional eye care while providing outstanding service in a professional setting!
