This is a full-time position. Candidates should be versed in the following Ophthalmic duties: Responsibilities Conduct ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure (tonometry), and performing eye refraction assessments. Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools. Assist with patient intake procedures by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately recorded in electronic health records (EHR/EHR management systems). Follow aseptic techniques to ensure clinical confidentiality policies are upheld during all patient interactions and procedures. Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and supporting patients through their eye examinations with empathy and professionalism. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality at all times. Support the clinical team by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing medical equipment, and managing inventory of ophthalmic supplies. Collaborate with ophthalmologists to facilitate efficient patient flow and ensure accurate documentation of findings for diagnosis and treatment planning. Demonstrate knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to accurately assist during ophthalmic examinations. Assist in optical services when needed, including basic eye refraction assessments or supporting optical staff with retail math calculations for eyewear sales. Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical office setting or ophthalmology practice preferred; strong background in medical terminology is a plus. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records efficiently and securely. Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and tonometry devices. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient privacy and safety. Ability to perform ophthalmic patient examinations accurately while maintaining a compassionate approach. Strong understanding of eye anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures related to eye health. Excellent communication skills for effective intake processes and patient service delivery.
