Primarily responsible for timely patient contact to obtain medical information and perform a variety of tests prior to the doctor seeing the patient.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform and accurately document basic ocular screening, patient history and chief complaint. Assist with the movement of patients through sequences and evaluations to ensure efficient patient flow. Ability to perform and document the following tests: Tonometry, autorefraction and lensometry with importing, fundus/disc photography, ocular coherence tomography (OCT), Humphrey visual field (HVF), TearLab, color testing, pupillary testing, and extraocular motility, visual acuity (i.e. distance, near, intermediate and pinhole), drop instillation, fluorescein strip, and dilating drops Assist the attending physician with in-office procedures, including but not limited to: selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), YAG laser capsulotomy, foreign body removal, bandage contact lens, 5-FU injections, etc. Knowledge, spelling and pronunciation of ophthalmic terminology. Knowledge of all ophthalmic equipment used. Communicate doctor instructions to patients on request. Clean and maintain exam lanes. Demonstrate compliance with all provisions of safety rules and other clinic policies and procedures. Safeguard patient's medical and personal information and maintain patient confidentiality. Work with other staff members to coordinate patient care. Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested and enhances professional growth and development through meetings, education programs, seminars and conferences. Obtain

HIPAA/OSHA

certification upon hire and each year at a specified time and at the expense of the practice. Perform other duties as assigned. If bilingual Interpret for patients and others as needed. Translate written documents as needed. For those not certified to interpret in a clinical setting: on the job training will be provided for the right candidate. Requirements Preferred medical related experience and/or training. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred Compensation will be decided based on experience
