In this multifaceted position, you will be the friendly face welcoming patients, managing appointments, and supporting the clinical team with essential eye care procedures. Your proactive attitude and commitment to professionalism will help create a positive experience for every patient while ensuring smooth front desk functions and adherence to healthcare regulations. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and manage appointment scheduling using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating personal information while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA privacy policies. Perform basic eye assessments like tonometry (measuring intraocular pressure). Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests, including visual acuity assessments. Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, following aseptic techniques to ensure clinical confidentiality policies are upheld at all times. Support the clinical team with ophthalmology-specific tasks such as physiology knowledge application, anatomy identification, and assisting with diagnostic testing related to pediatrics or general adult care. Manage front desk responsibilities including answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing billing and coding for insurance claims, and maintaining accurate medical records. Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is appreciated; familiarity with EMR systems is a plus. Demonstrated ability to provide direct patient care with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail. Experience operating medical equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently at the front desk and clinical stations. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential.
