Ophthalmic Technician Job Description Mackey Vision Center is a patient-focused, fast-paced ophthalmology/optometry practice dedicated to providing high-quality eye care. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Obtain and document patient history, including chief complaint and relevant medical information.
• Perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including: Visual acuity testing Tonometry Visual field testing OCT imaging Fundus photography Measurements for cataract surgery Corneal topography Additional ophthalmic imaging as needed
• Assist with dilation and instillation of ophthalmic drops per physician instruction.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms prior to physician evaluation.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment.
• Accurately document all findings and testing results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures.
• Ensure patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout their visit.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician preferred but not required.
• COA or COT certification is strongly recommended.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Comfortable working with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR).
• Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
