Job Description

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA., is looking for team members who will help advance our vision to be the premier hospital of choice for patients, physicians, and employees. IMC is currently hiring a Radiology Assistant (Rad Asst.) on a full-time basis who will greet patients at the reception desk, enter orders for Radiology procedures per outpatient requests, assist CAT scan Technologists (CT Techs) with oral contrast before scans and assist patients with assessment forms. The Rad Assistant is also responsible for ensuring medical necessity which will involve calling the physician's office. They will also perform various clerical functions such as filing jackets, mailing reports, and CDs, disposition of radiology images on CD, and handling phone calls. The Rad asst. will be responsible for retrieving old film from nearby storage. The Rad asst. will also assist with transporting patients when necessary.
EDUCATION
High school diploma
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Medical office experience preferred
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Medical Terminology preferred
PRINCIPLE TASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer phone and follow through with requests Fax Radiology reports as requested Print images onto CD's Receive patients in the waiting area Ensure patients are prepped for procedures Order tests in the computer system Notify techs of tests ordered and patients waiting Communicate wait or other issues with patients Work overtime if a heavy workload arises Cooperate with physicians Be abreast of all P.I., projects, and areas routinely monitored Assist Tech Supervisor and Manager with projects when needed Attend department meetings, hospital in-services Assists in departmental orientation to new employees Follow IMC Standards of Performance, Hospital Goals, Department Goals Assist U/S Tech if a female attendant is needed Excellent customer service skills required
