Optometric Technician, Imaging and Clinical Support Status:
4 days/week based on provider schedules and patient demand
Job Summary:
Arsulowicz Eye Care, LLC is a private optometry practice that has served the eye care and optical needs of West Michigan for over 50 years. We are a caring, patient-centered practice that values personal connection and individualized attention. We are seeking a self-motivated optometric technician for a fast-paced, patient-facing clinical role that involves working with multiple patients throughout the day, maintaining patient flow, performing diagnostic testing, and supporting accurate clinical documentation. Every member of our team contributes to our mission of delivering advanced eye care and customized solutions with personalized attention, where patients feel known, supported, and cared for. This role requires comfort with a busy clinical setting, frequent task switching, and active engagement with both patients and the care team.
Responsibilities:
- Work under optometrist supervision in pre-testing the patient, including taking a thorough patient history, visual acuity, color vision and stereo testing.
- Perform Humphrey Visual Field testing and OCT imaging (Topcon Maestro) as ordered.
- Assist with instrument setup, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining readiness of clinical equipment.
- Support accurate and timely clinical documentation during patient encounters.
- Execute treatment plan follow-through, including patient education, prescription coordination (including prior authorizations), referral documentation, and communication with outside providers.
- Utilize EHR reports to monitor patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with the office manager and clinical team to maintain supplies.
- Assist with contact lens trial coordination and initiate ordering workflows, with final ordering and fulfillment completed by the optician team.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- 1+ year experience in an optometric or medical office as a technician preferred.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment with frequent patient interaction and task switching
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation
- Professional communication skills with patients and team members
- Willingness to learn diagnostic equipment and clinical workflows
- Comfort with hands-on technical tasks, including basic instrument troubleshooting
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with OCT, visual fields, or contact lens workflows
- Administrative or clinical coordination experience
- Strong interest in learning advanced diagnostic testing and clinical systems
