Our practice is growing and we are excited to welcome new patients and new staff! Our office strives to provide each patient with personal and comprehensive care, as well as to provide our staff with an outstanding work environment. We value cooperation, efficiency, and working as a team. We love to learn and teach new skills, and offer on-the-job training to motivated individuals wanting to advance their education and skills! We are currently hiring for the position of Ophthalmic Technician. An Ophthalmic Technician performs tests and procedures on a patient's eyes, providing information to the treating doctor(s) to care for a variety of medical conditions. We're looking for an upbeat, motivated, positive individual who is willing to work as a team member at Somers Eye Center to serve our patients!
Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities:
Our ophthalmic technicians have the closest relationship with our patients. From the time a patient arrives, the ophthalmic tech is busy reviewing their chart; greeting them in a professional and welcoming manner; verifying patient information and reviewing medical history and current medications; entering data in the electronic health record; measuring pupils, eye muscle function, visual acuity, eye alignment as well as best corrected visual acuity through auto and manual refractions; measuring eye pressures through tonopen or applanation tonometry; obtaining data from Humphrey visual field testing, Zeiss OCT, Zeiss topography, Clarus photos, LenStar, spectrometry, etc. They also prepare for and assist our surgeon(s) in minor office procedures, and help to prepare our patients and their charts for eye surgery. Our ophthalmic technicians demonstrate an understanding of eye anatomy as well as eye disease. They work closely with the doctor(s) to care for our patients.
Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications:
Experience in health care highly preferred Optometry/Ophthalmology experience preferred COA or COT certification a plus!
