Duties Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure (tonometry), and other task. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment Assist with patient intake procedures by collecting medical history, vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation within electronic health records (EHR/EHR). Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient safety and privacy. Support doctors during examinations by preparing necessary instruments, maintaining medical records, and managing medical equipment operation. Educate patients on eye health, pre- and post-procedure instructions, and assist with optical sales when appropriate. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics. Strong knowledge of ophthalmology/optometry procedures, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye care. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently. Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as tonometers, A-scans, and other clinical tools. Ability to perform direct patient care with excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach. Familiarity with medical records management, clinical confidentiality policies, and HIPAA compliance standards. Basic retail sales experience or understanding of optical products is a plus for assisting with optical services. Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality while delivering high-quality patient service in a fast-paced environment.
