Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional patient care within a busy optometry practice, supporting optometrists in clinical and administrative tasks. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where technical skills and compassionate patient interaction are essential. The Optometric Technician will play a vital part in ensuring efficient clinic operations and delivering high-quality eye care services. Duties Assist patients with intake procedures, including gathering medical histories and updating records Perform preliminary eye tests, including visual acuity, refraction, and intraocular pressure measurements Maintain aseptic technique during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety Operate EMR system platforms accurately Support optometrists during exams by preparing equipment and documentation Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and proper eye care routines Manage medical records with attention to HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards Assist with retail sales of eyewear, contact lenses, and accessories while providing excellent customer service Assist with front desk responsibilities including appointment scheduling Skills Strong understanding of patient care principles with excellent communication skills Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and ophthalmic testing techniques Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures Optical experience or background in ophthalmology preferred; knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology beneficial Previous medical office experience including front desk duties, medical coding, or billing is advantageous This position offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about eye health and patient service.
