Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient examinations, including visual acuity tests and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging. Perform contact lens fittings and provide guidance on lens care and maintenance. Schedule exams and retrieve insurance authorizations Operate medical equipment such as slit lamps, ophthalmoscopes, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools with precision and aseptic technique. Document patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Communicate clearly with patients about their eye health, treatment options, and disease management strategies. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to safety standards and medical equipment operation protocols. Experience Prior experience in ophthalmology or optometry is highly preferred; familiarity with optical experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform ophthalmic patient examinations confidently using various diagnostic tools. Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Experience operating medical equipment such as tonometers, slit lamps, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging devices. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient information and medical records management. Strong client communication skills with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and education about eye health. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
