Their responsibilities include preparing patients, performing exams and tests, administering medications and treatments, assisting with procedures, educating patients, maintain records, monitoring patients and maintaining equipment. Minimum Requirements 5 years and Certification from Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) at the level of Certified Ophthalmic Assistant(COA) is required, or 7 years of experience required if not certified. High School plus specialized training.
