This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care in our growing ophthalmology clinic. The Ophthalmic Assistant will support the ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while maintaining a welcoming environment for patients. Responsibilities Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history and current medications. Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and other diagnostic tests. Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is sanitized and ready for use. Schedule appointments and manage the front desk operations efficiently. Provide patients with information regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care. Stay updated on medical terminology and clinic protocols to enhance patient interactions. Qualifications Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is required. Previous ophthalmic or optometric clinic experience a plus. Familiarity with front desk operations, including scheduling and managing medical records. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is beneficial.
