Responsibilities Conduct patient intake by gathering medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records using EMR systems such as Epic. Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels to assist in thorough patient assessments. Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations with aseptic technique. Assist ophthalmologists during exams by setting up equipment, maintaining sterile conditions, and documenting findings accurately. Manage medical records with precision, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and handling retail sales of eye care products when appropriate. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized. Requirements 1 year prior experience in ophthalmology clinics is required. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision care. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and record keeping. Ability to perform intake procedures efficiently while demonstrating excellent patient care skills. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security are maintained at all times. Experience with optical equipment, such as Humphrey Visual Field, IOL Master, Scanning Computerized Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging and other necessary testing. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and collaborating effectively with team members.
