An Ophthalmic Technician makes prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses by cutting and shaping lenses according to individual prescriptions. May make lenses for other optical equipment, such as telescopes or microscopes. Works in medical equipment manufacturing facilities and laboratories, retail stores, or in the offices of optometrists and physicians.

Job Description

Central Eyes Optometry provides vision and medical eye care. We are proud to be a 5 star clinic that offers excellent service and care to our patients. We are looking for motivated teammates to help our optometry clinic continue to grow as we serve the people of Grants Pass and Josephine County. We are a small, privately owned optometry clinic with a boutique optical. You don't need any eye care experience, but must absolutely love working with people and be genuinely positive and enthusiastic. We will train the necessary eye care skills. We are looking for a warm, engaging and friendly person. You must be willing to work in a professional environment, love to learn, have excellent communication skills, basic computer skills and love working as a team player.
Our office hours:
Monday - Thursday 9-6, and Friday 9-2 We offer great work environment and an opportunity to learn with room for growth. Starting at $16/hour depending on experience. Certification is not required at the time of hire but must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Common Job Duties:
Pre-testing patients before they see the doctor Using different equipment to gather data Computer work, including documentation of findings in Electronic Health Record Scheduling appointments Cleaning exam rooms in between patients Training patients how to insert, remove and care for contact lenses.
Must Have:
A positive attitude and enjoy working with a team and with patients in our community. If you're motivated and love to learn, you'll do great! Preferred, but not required: Previous work in reception or customer service.
