Who We AreThe Brighton Center for Specialty Care is one of the newer University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis Rd. Brighton, MI. Responsibilities•Perform the duties of an ophthalmic technician, Perform the duties of an ophthalmic technician, including, but not limited to:
Provide exceptional patient care Provide assistance to ophthalmologists Perform testing related to diagnostic evaluation of the visual systemAssist in in-office procedures and treatmentsActively monitor clinic workflowAssist in research studiesAssist in training and coordinating the work of other ophthalmic team membersAssist in onboarding new employeesRequired Qualifications•High School DiplomaSuccessful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program is required, or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is requiredCertification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required within one year of employmentThis classification requires Primary Source Verification.

Work ScheduleThis is full-time, working Monday through Friday. The hours depend on the clinic operation hours.
Union AffiliationThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
