Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists during clinical examinations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic tests, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained at all times Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly Manage electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems to ensure accurate documentation of patient interactions and treatment plans Support the diagnosis process by understanding medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy relevant to ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmic disorders Facilitate patient care activities including glaucoma management, cataract assessments, and neuro-ophthalmic disorder evaluations Assist with clinical research activities related to ophthalmic conditions and participate in clinical trials when needed Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality Qualifications Post-residency experience in ophthalmology or a related specialty such as neuro-ophthalmology or pediatric ophthalmology Strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures, medical-surgical practices, and healthcare diagnosis techniques Experience with clinical research, laboratory work, or acute care settings is highly desirable Proficiency in medical coding, medical terminology, and medical records management using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques required for patient safety and confidentiality Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivering excellent patient care Knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, glaucoma management, cataract management, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders is essential Join us to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives through expert eye care!
