Ophthalmic Technician Location:
Mesquite, TX Pay Range:
$18-$22 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, approximately 7:45 AM-5:00

About Our Client Addison Group is hiring for our client, an established ophthalmology practice in Mesquite, TX, seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join its patient care team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a clinical healthcare background who is interested in developing specialized ophthalmology skills. The practice provides hands-on training , making this position a strong fit for a Medical Assistant, CNA, Phlebotomist, or other patient care professional looking to transition into ophthalmology. Job Description The Ophthalmic Technician will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to prepare patients and equipment for appointments, support efficient patient flow, and assist with daily clinic operations. Previous ophthalmology experience is not required. The team is looking for someone with a solid patient care foundation who is eager to learn and can become increasingly independent as training progresses. Key Responsibilities Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and testing areas for physician use Assist with patient preparation and clinical workflow throughout the day Coordinate follow-up appointments, additional testing, and outside evaluations when requested by providers Maintain organized and accurate patient information Communicate with patients regarding scheduling and next steps in their care Support physicians and clinical staff during daily patient visits Cross-train on front office responsibilities to provide additional coverage when needed Assist with other duties as assigned Qualifications 6+ months of hands-on patient care experience Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, Phlebotomist, or similar healthcare professional is a strong fit Comfortable interacting directly with patients in a medical office Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to learn new clinical processes and equipment Dependable with strong attention to detail Willingness to cross-train and support different areas of the practice Preferred Qualifications Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience Experience working in an outpatient physician practice Interest in developing a long-term career as an Ophthalmic Technician Training & Development Comprehensive hands-on training provided by the clinical team Training on ophthalmology-specific processes, equipment, and workflows Opportunity to become increasingly independent as skills are developed Ophthalmic technician certification may be paid for by the employer after one year of employment Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
